NATO declares ready to pull out of Libya

Эксперты МГИМО: Сушенцов Андрей Андреевич, к.полит.н.

NATO has formally announced it is winding down its military operations in Libya now that Muammar Gaddafi has been killed, allowing the new government to begin the long road of rebuilding. Looking back now though, was the NATO mission a victory, was it necessary or are there lessons to learn for the future? Andrei Sushentsov, a lecturer at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, says the NATO mission in Libya was a great help to the rebels opposing Muammar Gaddafi, but the question is whether these actions were legitimate and complied with the UN resolution on Libya, which was only to prevent confrontation between the two sides in the country.
